Quick update.  Last month, I made some slight alterations to the page layout and page logo, live video is on with a weekly high school football highlight show and the game of the week, and my work locked in a sponsor, Velocity Sports!

Here’s hoping for more page views and more income!  🙂

A special section focusing on New Jersey state politics and latest headlines from the state capitol.  I made the title banner in Adobe Photoshop.  That pen tool was useful in making the silhouette of the New Jersey capitol dome.

UPDATE: I’m happy to announce that my live sports video page got a big-money sponsorship deal with an area store and that this page will go live this fall, right in time for high school sports season!

The layout was based on our sister newspaper web site, the Asbury Park Press in Neptune, New Jersey.  However, I added and tweaked some aspects to make our page look like our very own.

Front-page Tweaks:

– The news ticker was coded in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and pulls in the latest ten stories from the paper’s content management system.

– The four red tabs were coded in HTML, CSS and AJAX.  Each tab contains specific content.  When a person clicks on a tab, the section loads immediately without reloading the page.

– I tweaked the original template’s color scheme from light-blue to burgandy.  I utilized Adobe Photoshop to carefully re-color every button, border and image holders without re-sizing the image.

– The center news well was organized.

YourPrez – A Greetings-Filled DVD/Web Site for President Obama

Project Conceived:  November, 2008
Project Completed:  February, 2009

The original premise was to design a multimedia DVD, compatible with all DVD players, filled with audio, video and letter greetings to U.S. President Barack Obama.  Former Assistant New Media Editor Whitney Rhodes collected reader submissions for publication.

As soon as I got the material, I designed the GUI and re-sized all photos and images of scanned letters in Adobe Photoshop.  Next, I designed a storyboard and determine how the watchers could navigate and see the content.  Finally, I sorted all that and published the DVD through Roxio.

Following the publication, this online extension was made using the same material made through Photoshop and modifying to make it all suitable for the web.
